ADHD Resource Directory

Disclaimer: These are crowd-sourced recommendations from folks with professional and/or lived experience. I intend for these recommendations to be used as a starting place, and for you to utilize your own discretion to discern what is truly right for you. That being said, if you have any questions, concerns, corrections or additions, feel free to reach out! I am adding to & adjusting this page fairly regularly, and your feedback can only help to improve it.

Podcasts

  • Divergent Conversations
  • The Neurodivergent Woman
  • (my podcast, NeuroJoy, is coming soon!)

Books

  • How to ADHD: An Insider’s Guide to Working with Your Brain by Jessica McCabe
  • The ADHD and Autism Unmasking Workbook by Emily Oliver
  • Laziness Does Not Exist by Devon Price
  • How to Keep House While Drowning by KC Davis

Many of these books can be found at your local library, and if not, you can also request your library to add it to their collection [article: how to request a book at your library].

(current work in progress! let me know if you have any favorites you recommend)

  • How to ADHD on YouTube
  • Catieosaurus on Instagram & YouTube
  • DomesticBlisters aka KC Davis on tiktok & instagram

The internet is one of my favorite tools for accessible connection, validation & resources.

When searching for online community, my general recommendation is to ensure they have strong guidelines around centering the experiences of people with ADHD, being open to new ideas, and refraining from ableist language & paradigms. I also recommend avoiding communities that are focused on trying to sell you something.

Misc:

I do my best to keep this updated with links to each provider’s website & info on their services. However, providers are often training in new things & adding to what is offered, so what I have here I may be out of date! I encourage you to use the links associated with each individual provider to learn more about them & get the most accurate info on their work. If a link is broken, I recommend typing their name into google along with words like “tennesee”, “mental health,” “therapist,” etc.

NDTherapists.com & NeurodivergentPractitioners.org both have directories for neuroaffirming providers that I recommend if you need more options!

Assessment Providers

+ = offers payment plans and/or pricing packages

** = takes some forms of insurance

Not all professional assessments are the same. I encourage you to speak to the evaluator to better understand the scope of their assessment depending on your needs.

  • + Zephyr Care ages 2 & up, available for all PSYPACT states
  • Lila Homan children & adults, TN ONLY
  • ** Dr. Van Horn – children & adults, accepts most insurance. My recommendation is Dr. Van Horn only. I’ve been told it may be difficult to get in with her specifically versus being randomly assigned a provider by the organization. That being said, I do not endorse any other provider at this practice. TN ONLY
  • Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale + New 6q Version

Providers who can provide formalized testing for ADHD.

Therapists (TN Only)

All the therapists below have a good understanding of autism & neurodivergence from an affirming lens. If they have additional specialities, I have included that info from the best of my knowledge.

** = takes some forms of insurance

*I am finding more therapists for this list all the time!
*Additional ND-affirming therapists may be found
here

Therapists who are informed on ADHD & provide ND-affirming care. These are providers either I have personally vetted or are people recommended by colleagues whom I trust.

Psychiatry (TN Only)

** = takes some forms of insurance

Doctors or Nurse Practitioners who can provide medication support.

Groups

Groups for people with ADHD to promote community & support emotional processing, groups to support parents of kids with ADHD & more.

More options may be found in the Nashville-Area Group Therapy Directory, though I cannot vouch for how ND-affirming they may or may not be https://www.seconddog.org/nashville-groups

Groups which meet either in person or online & are led by an individual.

Dieticians (TN Only)

Dieticians can be helpful for things such as finding alternative ways to meet your nutritional needs when you forget to eat, or helping you identify what foods can meet your sensory-seeking need with what you require nutritionally.

Coaching

Coaching is great for things like navigating executive functioning & working towards short-term goals

Below are some great professional trainings that can aid in your journey of becoming truly neurodiversity affirming, in a format many of us are familiar with. Best wishes along your journey!
